Vaughan the man to catch

South African Bradford Vaughan will take a one-shot lead into today’s final round of the Dunhill Championship in Johannesburg.

Vaughan was among 22 players forced to complete their third rounds at 6.30am local time this morning after bad weather brought an early end to play on Saturday.

The 27-year-old played his remaining six holes in one under par to card a 66 for a 14-under-par total of 202, one shot ahead of overnight leader Bradley Dredge of Wales.

Dredge was in the middle of the 10th fairway when play resumed but bogeyed the hole and also dropped a shot at the 15th, but birdies at the 11th and 18th saw him round in 70.

Denmark’s Anders Hansen, the Volvo PGA champion, and Sheffield’s Mark Roe were a further shot back on 12 under, with Worksop’s Mark Foster, South African Richard Sterne and Scotland’s Doug McGuigan another stroke adrift.

Last week’s winner Trevor Immelman was four shots off the lead on 10 under, alongside English duo Ian Poulter and Richard Bland.
