Former Ryder Cup player Paul Broadhurst won back a European tour place with what he called his finest-ever round under pressure.

Broadhurst produced a last-day 66 in the qualifying school at Emporda in Spain.

He started the round in joint 36th place, with only the top 35 and ties being given cards for next year's circuit.

"In the circumstances I would say that's my best-ever round," he said.

"Winning my singles at the Ryder Cup (in 1991) does not even come close.

"It was either a good score today or the Challenge Tour next year. As a family man I can't really afford to do that."
