Tiger Woods hit a superb shot to three feet on the second for a certain birdie, but Darren Clarke followed him in to 10 feet and Bjorn to seven, Clarke making his second birdie of the day to keep Europe ahead on the first day of the Ryder Cup at the Belfry.

The Tyrone man was in inspired form and birdied the par five third as well, but Woods matched it after his long iron second was lucky to creep over the greenside bunker.
