Manchip wins at Nuremore

Edinburgh-born Neil Manchip, assistant to Leonard Owens at Royal Dublin, won the Irish Club Professionals' Championship at Nuremore for a third time with a closing round of 65.

Manchip spread seven birdies over his card without dropping a stroke to win the tournament by two strokes from Brendan McGovern, John Dwyer and Jimmy Bolger who was one of the joint overnight leaders on 66.

"I'm obviously delighted to have won this event again and the cash will help towards my forthcoming wedding. It might just about buy the bride's veil," cracked the winner who was successful also in 1997 and '99.

Bolger who shared 66 with Brendan McDaid and Martin Sludds took 71 shots in the second round while McDaid took 72 and Sludds 74. This is Manchip's first win of the season.
