Jennings seeks to secure Forest title

The penultimate round of the Valvoline Irish Forest Rally Championship and the final round of the CarryduffForklift Northern Ireland Rally Championship dovetail on tomorrow’s Omagh-based McKelvey Bushwhacker Rally that has attracted 100 entries.

In the Irish Forest series, Fermanagh’s Garry Jennings (Subaru 555) can wrap up the title, based on the best five scores from seven events. It is five years since a NorthernIreland driver (Stephen Moore) has won the Irish series. In an incredibly busy season, Jennings, current Irish Tarmac Group N champion, has switched between the forests and the sealed surfaces of the Irish Tarmac Championship with consummate ease. For the moment, the Valvoline campaign is his sole focus.

Victories in Donegal, Carrick on Suir and Mitchelstown, along with a stunning recovery to take second on the Moonraker Rally after he upended his Subaru 555, has made him favourite to take the title tomorrow.
