Harrington’s Wentworth blow

PÁDRAIG HARRINGTON’S injury woes this season continued last night when the three-time major winner decided to withdraw from next week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

A knee injury sustained during the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow, North Carolina at the start of this month has forced him out of the field of next week’s flagship event on the European Tour, seven weeks after his bid for the Masters foundered on the practice range ahead of his opening round as he damaged his left shoulder whilst warming up.

“I originally picked up a knee injury during the Wells Fargo Championship, which then got worse during last week’s Players Championship,” Harrington said in a statement posted on his official website last night.
