Westwood down in the dumps

WHILE millions of golf fans cannot wait for the Ryder Cup Lee Westwood confessed yesterday that he will be happy when it is a thing of the past.

After missing yet another halfway cut - this time in the Omega European Masters in Switzerland - the troubled 29-year-old again sounded down in the dumps.

‘‘It’s difficult to be positive after scoring 74, isn’t it?’’ stated Westwood. ‘‘I hit it crap, but I’ve got used to that over the last two years. I’ll be glad when the Ryder Cup is over. People put too much emphasis on it.
