Monty hits out at media’s major ‘obsession’

SCOTLAND’S Colin Montgomerie accused the media of becoming obsessed with his hunt for an elusive first major win.

The big Scot said he was looking forward to the new season after securing his eighth European Order of Merit title but rubbished speculation over the majors as paper talk.

“It doesn’t affect me either way. It seems to affect the media more than me,” Montgomerie said ahead of this week’s UBS Hong Kong Open. “I don’t go around trying to make an issue of it, the media makes more of an issue of it than I ever have done.
