Galbally Pearses have lost their appeal over their Tyrone SFC first round defeat to Trillick last weekend.

The appeal hearing at Garvaghey ended with the Competitions Control Committee turning down the club’s case to have the result overturned.

Trillick won the game with a stoppage time free by Lee Brennan to book their place in the quarter-finals.

It’s unclear whether Galbally intend to take the matter further and lodge a further appeal with Ulster GAA, but as it stands, that tie, against Errigal Ciaran, will go ahead on the weekend after next.

The game, played last Saturday at Carrickmore, ended in a one-point win for Trillick, who came from seven points behind to go through with a stoppage time winner from a Lee Brennan free kick.

But earlier in the second half, referee Martin Conroy had disallowed a Galbally point after halting play to deal with an incident close to the sideline.

The cancelled score lay at the heart of the controversy which led Galbally club officials to make a decision to lodge an appeal.

In the meantime, the draw for the quarter-finals went ahead the following day, pairing Trillick with Errigal Ciaran.
