Seánie McGrath: Erin's Own look the part but Carrigtwohill keep defying the odds

Erin’s Own look primed for a return to Premier Senior, but Carrigtwohill’s resilience without Seán Walsh evokes memories of their odds-defying 2011 triumph

Come 2011, I was done with my playing days and so was heading into the local games as a spectator along with my buddies. You were going down to watch Carrigtwohill, and I don’t know how many times I said that year, ‘Nah, today they are going to get caught out’.

But then every time they went out you had Niall McCarthy chipping in with four and five from play, you had Seanie Farrell’s off-the-bench intervention against CIT to get them sensationally over the line, and so I just wonder, 15 years later, and having continuously come through tight squeezes without talisman Seán Walsh, is their name written on the Senior A Cup?
