Shane O'Donnell has confirmed he will retire from inter-county hurling at the end of Clare's involvement in this year's championship.

O'Donnell had previously hinted he would finish up last season, but after an injury-hit campaign in 2025, he indicated his intention to go for another season last autumn.

Now O'Donnell has confirmed this truly was the last dance. Speaking at a GAA/GPA event to promote new nutrition partner Cróga Nutrition, O'Donnell told the Clare Champion that he has maximum two games left with the Banner.

"It's my last two games for Clare and I just want to finish on a high. Limerick in an All-Ireland semi-final with a chance to then play for the Liam MacCarthy.

"This is what it's about, this is what it's always been about. Croke Park on the big day and I honestly can't wait."
