A goal from Neisha Scott in the 57th minute of the Allianz Lily Spence Cup final in Nenagh saw Portumna Community school home to a first ever title at this level.
Just two minutes earlier the Galway side and Our Lady’s Templemore were locked on 0-8 each. Player of the match Katie Lawless pointed and the Scott goal was followed by white flags from Kate O’Sullivan and Lawless again to leave a more convincing score-line than the Tipperary side deserved.
Our Lady’s actually led at the break by 0-4 to 0-3 with three points from Ciara Cahill. The teams traded scores through the second half, mainly through Cahill and Lawless.
Portumna though got the break for the goal with no time for Templemore to recover and they follow Mercy Roscommon to the national title.

THE first four points of the second half from St Mary’s Macroom did the damage in Drumree County Meath yesterday to see the Allianz Dónal Burke Cup return to Munster for the ninth time since the competition was introduced in 2010.
Player of the Match Lily O’Shea delivered six points for the winners while Sarah Kelleher’s goal in the 23rd minute was also a key score as it cancelled out the lead that the Ulster champions took through a strike from Annie Leadon five minutes earlier.
It meant that the teams turned around on a par at 1-4 each after the excellent Ellie McCartney pointed for St Conor’s on the half-time whistle.
Points from Ava McSweeney and three from O’Shea opened a gap on the re-start and, although McCartney and Feina Kerr replied with two points, St Conor’s could get no closer and Sarah and Grace Kelleher sealed victory with late points.
S Kelleher 1-1, L O’Shea 0-6, A McSweeney 0-2, C Kelleher and G Kelleher 0-1 each.
A Leadon 1-0, E McCartney, JJ Darragh and F Kerr 0-2 each, N Henry 0-1
