For a man insisting he was keeping his powder dry, winning Connacht manager Pádraic Joyce appeared to be leaning towards making some judgements on the new rules.

In the build-up to the game, would-be man of the match Aidan O’Shea had mentioned that the rule keeping three outfield players in each half of the field at all times might be sufficient without amending the scoring in the game. “I think the three v three might create more scoring opportunities in general and solve the 'more scores' thing,” he told RTÉ.
