As far as going about picking up the pieces after yet another Munster final defeat, Brian Lohan made a good start by saying all the right things.

In his post-match interviews he praised the side that had beaten them, then gave both credit and hope to his own players. He reminded them and everyone that they’d lost to Limerick before and bounced back without explicitly stating those examples; scraping past Wexford in an All Ireland quarter-final two years ago, then steamrolling Dublin at the same juncture 12 months later, and most impressively, beating Cork in Cork this year only seven days after losing to John Kiely’s men in Ennis.
