Rain and drizzle to dominate weekend following dry conditions

Unsettled weather will dominate the weekend following weeks of dry and sunny conditions. 

Met Éireann said that while rain and drizzle will take over those days, temperatures will be "near or slightly above normal."

Thursday will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Patches of drizzle are also possible in the north and west at times, with highs of 19C to 24C set for the day, with warmer conditions for the south. 

It will then become cloudy on Thursday night with lows of 10C to 15C in store for the evening. 

Friday will be mainly cloudy with isolated patches of drizzle in the north and west. Sunny spells will develop through the afternoon before it becomes hazier in the evening. Highs of 17C to 24C are expected, and it will be warmest in the south and southeast. 

Scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle will spread in from the northwest on Friday night, with lows of 12C to 15C expected. 

Weekend ahead 

Saturday will then be cloudy with scattered breaks of rain and drizzle, most frequent in the west and north. There will be some hill and coastal mist also, with highs of 15C to 22C for the day. It will be warmest in the east and southeast. 

It will stay largely cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle alongside hill and coastal mist and lows of 13C to 15C. 

Sunday will see more cloud, rain and drizzle before it starts to become drier with occasional breaks in the cloud as the day goes on. Highs of 15C to 21C are expected. 

More rain or drizzle will continue in the north and near Atlantic coasts on Sunday night, but it will be dry with clear spells in other areas. 

Looking into next week, Monday will see some early sunny spells in the south and east, but it will be a largely cloudy day with rain or drizzle developing in many areas. Rain is set to be most persistent in the north and west, but parts of the southeast may remain dry. Highs of 17C to 23C are expected.
