Davy Fitzgerald hoping to be back by Sunday after minor heart surgery

Davy Fitzgerald is aiming to be on the sideline for Clare’s All-Ireland quarter-final on Sunday having had minor heart surgery yesterday, writes John Fogarty.

Fitzgerald, 45 on Monday week, was transferred to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin yesterday having been admitted to a clinic in Galway on Monday. He is set to be released on Friday after having two angioplasty stents inserted.
