Daly gets new Dublin term

Anthony Daly has been reappointed as Dublin senior hurling manager for the next two years, following a meeting of the Dublin County Committee at Parnell Park last night.

Daly had one year left to run on his current term, and he did not make it publicly known after July's All-Ireland SHC qualifier defeat to Antrim whether he would be staying on.

However, a recent meeting between the Clare man and Dublin officials saw him agree a new deal which will see him take charge for the 2011 and 2012 campaigns.

Daly was originally appointed in November 2008 and his first season saw the Dubs reach the Leinster final and qualify for the All-Ireland quarter-finals.

This year, the Metropolitans maintained their presence in National League Division 1, but their Championship run petered out when Antrim surprised them at Croke Park.

At underage level in 2010, the Dublin Under-21s won the Leinster title and the minor side reached an All-Ireland semi-final, so Daly will be hopeful of bringing more players into the senior ranks in the coming years.

His selection team of Ciarán Hetherton (Craobh Chiaráin), Richie Stakelum (Kilmacud Crokes) and Vincent Teehan (Ballyboden St. Enda's) were also reappointed last night.
