Sudden Adult Death Syndrome suspected as hurler dies
A Limerick hurler is believed to have died over the weekend from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.
Willie O’Brien, 28, was found dead at his home on Saturday morning, the day before he was due to play in a club relegation play-off game.
A post mortem was carried out on his body at Mid-Western Regional Hospital yesterday.
O’Brien was due to line out for his club, Knockainey, yesterday in a game against Dromin Athlacca, alongside his twin brother, Donncha, who also plays for the team.
Willie is a former member of the Limerick senior hurling panel and won medals at underage, schools, intermediate and senior level.
He was also his club’s assistant treasurer.
