Ginnity ousted as chairman of Meath County Board
Fintan Ginnity has been ousted as chairman of the Meath County board after losing last night's election by a single vote.
Ginnity, who had been Ireland's longest-serving county board chairman, lost out to Brendan Dempsey at the board's annual general meeting last night.
His defeat is believed to be linked to his handling of the affair in which manager Eamon Barry threatened to resign over the county board's refusal to ratify two of his choices as backroom staff.
Ginnity had been in charge of the board since 1986 and was known for his dictatorial style.
