Louth plump for McEneaney
Former Monaghan boss Eamonn McEneaney was last night ratified as manager of the Louth senior and Under-21 footballers at a County Committee meeting.
McEneaney fills the vacancy - the last inter-county football post in the country - left by Val Andrews, beating former Louth and Antrim player JP O'Kane to the appointment.
The Castleblayney school principal, who has managed Trim for the past two seasons, has been given a five-year term to turn the Wee county's fortunes around. McEneaney has chosen Pat Mulligan, Stephen Melia and Seamus O'Hanlon as his selectors.
Centre half-forward on Monaghan's 1985 National League-winning side, McEneaney is no stranger to Louth football having managed the Louth Development squad, Under-14 and Under-15 county panels and the Dundalk-based Geraldines' Under-16s in recent years.
