Offaly players to meet County Board

The Offaly senior footballers and hurlers are to meet the GAA County Board in a bid to defuse a row over player grievances.

Players on the football panel recently withdrew their services for the coming season in support of demands for improved facilities.

Former football manager Eugene McGee was subsequently brought in to mediate in the row.

The hurlers supported the footballers in their demands and claimed that they had also been poorly treated by the County Board in recent years.

A statement form the Offaly senior hurling panel has confirmed that they have drawn up a list of terms and conditions in conjunction with the footballers.

These will form the basis of their talks with the county board.

"Both the hurlers and footballers are keen to stress that ultimately they have the interest and promotion of Offaly GAA at heart and in this regard it has been arranged that both parties will meet with the Offaly County Board in the near future to try and bring about a resolution of this current situation," the statement concluded.
