Mayo book All-Ireland final spot

Mayo 0-13 Fermanagh 1-8

Mayo made sure of their place in the All-Ireland football final, at the second attempt, with a late surge which ended Fermanagh's dream at Croke Park.

Five Conor Mortimer points, and another virtuoso playmaking performance from Keiran McDonald combined to make it a memorable occasion for John Maughan's side.

Mayo ran their opponents ragged with their adventurous and expansive style in a dominant opening 20 minutes, with centre forward McDonald spraying the passes which opened up the Fermanagh defence.

McDonald shot two sweet points, and provided the deliveries which sent Conor Mortimer in to stretch the Connacht champions' lead.

And with Ronan McGarrity and Fergal Kelly in control at midfield, the Ulster side struggled to get any attacks going.

Mayo led by 0-5 to 0-1 after 20 minutes, and appeared to be on their way to a heavy defeat, but suddenly they managed to turn in around.

Tom Brewster and Mark Little swung over points, and substitute James Sherry took an Eamon Maguire pass to strike a superb 31st minute goal which levelled the game.

Mayo finished the half strongly, however, hitting back with scores from Trevor Mortimer and McGarrity to lead by 0-8 to 1-3 at the break.

But Fermanagh made a storming start to the second half, Sherry bringing them level before Colm Bradley gave them the lead for the first time.

And it was Bradley who regained the lead from a long distance free afer a brilliant Trevor Mortimer point had brought Mayo level.

Scores were swapped between Mayo pair David Brady and Conor Mortimer and Fermanagh's Bradley, who thumped over two frees, before Mayo staged a strong finish, Trevor Mortimer and Austin O'Malley clinching a two points victory well taken scores.
