Roscommon deny Carr rumours
The Roscommon County Board has reacted angrily to claims that manager Tommy Carr had resigned as the westerners' football manager, at the alleged request of the team.
RTE's Aertel posted the story yesterday, saying the players had made the decision in the wake of their All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Dublin on Sunday in Croke Park.
A county board source was quoted as saying the squad was disgruntled with Carr's dropping of forward Frankie Dolan.
The report said Carr had issued a statement, saying he was disappointed by the players' decision. The report was taken off-air yesterday evening.
The County Board disputed the report.
Carr had intimated after the defeat to Dublin that he would make no decision on his future until after the Roscommon U-21s' Connacht final meeting with Mayo next week.
