Whelahan appoints Carey as Limerick skipper
Limerick hurling boss Pat Joe Whelahan has appointed Ciarán Carey as county captain for 2004.
Manager Whelahan opted to make the experienced 33-year old his leader on the field and the news comes as a welcome distraction to the ongoing dual player issue on Shannonside.
Whelahan said: "We've named a 34 man panel with Ciarán as captain. We'll look at it again in a couple of months and if it's not doing the business then we'll change things around."
