Down appeal against minor victory

Down GAA chiefs have appealed against Fermanagh's Ulster MFC semi-final victory last weekend on the grounds that the Ernesiders had an extra man on the pitch for a two minute period.

It is alleged that Fermanagh had 16 players on the pitch following a confused blood substitution late on at Clones and Down believe they can at least get a replay.

Ironically, Ross Carr's Down side actually scored in that period but have not given up hope of gaining a foothold back in the tournament via the appeals process.
