Cork 0-15, Kerry 1-09 (full-time)

Cork face Tipperary in the 2002 Munster football final after defeating Kerry in the semi final replay at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Following a sad week for Kerry football, with the death of Micheal O’Se, father of Dara, Tomas and Mark and brother of manager Paidi, a minute’s silence was observed.

It was the Kingdom who drew first blood when Dara O'Cinneide scored in the sixth minute but two from Colin Corkery sent the Rebels into the lead.

Cork - aided by a strong breeze in the first half - began to edge ahead and a Martin Cronin point saw them lead by 0-03 to 0-01, before O'Cinneide put over his second free after 15 minutes.

Fionnan Murray and Brendan Ger O'Sullivan added two further points for Cork, before O'Cinneide again kept Kerry in touch with a free, which Declan Quill added to a minute later.

However, Cork hit back again through Murray and Alan Cronin to go in at the interval three points up at 0-07 to 0-04.

The sides exchanged points at the start of the second half before Dara O’Se beat Kevin O’Dwyer in the Cork goal to level the sides.

But the Rebels battled back and added four more points, despite Colin Corkery missing a penalty after Phillip Clifford was fouled in the area.

Mike Frank Russell grabbed a point for Kerry but Cork went forward and again chipped in with three unanswered points to lead by five with minutes to go.

Kerry captain Dara O’Se and Colin Cooper got what turned out to be consolation points in injury time to leave a clear goal between the sides at the end.
