Dynamic Dardis fires Summerhill
County minor Barry Dardis was in stunning form, hitting 3-2, as his side led 4-5 to 0-3 at the break.
Championship favourites Navan O’Mahonys returned to action after an 18-week break, defeating Blackhall Gaels 1-17 to 0-4 at Pairc Tailteann despite being without injured pair Kevin Reilly and Mark Ward.
Stephen Bray impressed in attack with five points and Shane Gillespie netted the game’s only goal.
Seneschalstown, winners in 2007 and 2009, are also in the quarter-finals following a 0-17 to 0-12 win over Rathkenny at Kilberry. Four successive points either side of the break from Brian Sheridan after the sides were level six times proved crucial.
The biggest surprise of the fourth round was the 2-10 to 0-9 victory recorded by St Patrick’s over Donaghmore/Ashbourne at Seneschalstown on Saturday evening.
Goals in either half from Donal Landy and Niall Mooney had the Stamullen side in control. Both sides are through to the knockout phase.
With Cian Ward spearheading their attack, Wolfe Tones gained drew with Dunboyne (0-11 apiece) at the Navan O’Mahonys grounds on Saturday evening to secure their passage to the last eight.
Also on Saturday, last year’s beaten finalists, Dunshaughlin, bowed out of contention when Simonstown Gaels, inspired by Sean Tobin at centrefield, recorded a 2-18 to 0-17 victory at Skryne.
