The game looked wrapped up midway through the second-half with Kildorrery leading by six points and a man to the good after Glanmire’s Martin Connolly was shown a straight red card for striking Liam McGrath.
But a Daniel Molden penalty brought Glanmire back into contention as the clocked ticked into injury time with just two points separating the teams.
However, Kildorrery weren’t going to throw away a game they controlled for so long and outstanding midfielder Eamon O’Connor had the last say with a fine point on the stroke of full time.
Glanmire looked the hungrier team early on and two Molden points in as many minutes established an early lead. However, they failed to raise another white flag for 20 minutes as the pattern of the game turned on its head when referee Cathal Egan awarded what looked a soft penalty to Kildorrery.
Dave White sent keeper Brendan O’Connell the wrong way to hand Kildorrery a lead they scarcely deserved.
The goal galvanised them, however, and scores from Tom Monaghan and Peter O’Brien helped them to a 1-5 to 0-5 lead at the interval.
The changeover did little to disrupt Kildorrery’s flow as they extended the gap to five before Connolly received his marching orders on 38 minutes.
To Glanmire’s credit, they refused to lie down but in the end they left it too late to find top gear and insult was added to injury when Chris Cummins was shown a red card after the final whistle for using abusive language towards an umpire.
