St Finbarr’s top after win over Bishopstown
Roy Leahy and Robert O’Mahony each scored three points for the Barr’s, who now have two wins and a draw from three games played, while Paul O’Connor got the goal for Bishopstown, who had won both of their previous matches.
Douglas join the Town on four points after they were triumphant against Kiskeam on a 1-15 to 1-10 scoreline. Alan Cadogan scored the goal for Douglas as well as sharing the bulk of the points with Odhran Mulrooney while Cormac Dineen also got on the scoresheet. Billy Dennehy got Kiskeam’s goal with a penalty.
In what was a quiet weekend in Division 1, the only other game saw Ballincollig get their first win as they came away from Skibbereen with a 1-9 to 0-7 win.
Clonakilty took the sole lead in Division 2 as they made it three wins on the trot in seeing off Na Piarsaigh by 1-12 to 0-12, Pádraig Griffin scoring 1-4 for the 2009 county champions.
Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh are in second on five points after Aindreas Ó Coinceannain, who had earlier goaled, got an equaliser with the last kick in a 1-10 each draw with rivals Naomh Abán, for whom Donncha Ó Cochláin raised a green flag.
Macroom’s Friday-night win over Kildorrery keeps them top of Division 3 with five points from six, while Glanworth top Division 4 with the sole 100% record from three games.
The RedFM Senior Hurling League also got underway at the weekend, with Erin’s Own and Midleton drawing the sole match played, on Saturday. A Kieran Mulcahy goal helped the Magpies to a 1-10 to 1-5 half-time lead, Seán Hennessy and Conor Lehane doing most of the point-scoring, but Erin’s Own, for whom Eoghan Murphy had found the net, came back strongly.
Mossie Carroll’s goal was the catalyst as they moved 2-11 to 1-10 clear with 10 minutes left, but a strong Midleton finish, capped by Séamus O’Farrell’s equaliser, ensured a share of the spoils.
