Finn: Tribe are in fine fettle for final
The tie is a repeat of last year’s Final which Wexford won convincingly, but Finn believes his players are better equipped to fulfil their potential this weekend.
Finn said: “Things have stepped up a gear since the semi-final win over Kilkenny. We were very good that day because we didn’t panic. They hit us for 1-2 before half-time but we coped with it and that’s because our mental strength is better.
“Training has gone really well. I couldn’t be more delighted. A few players had niggles and knocks going into last year’s Final but this year is a different story.”
His biggest problem has been picking a starting 15 from a panel of considerable depth with many of the more established stars finding themselves out of favour at various times this year.
“Players come in and out of form and you need a strong panel and people pushing for places. We definitely have that this year.”
Sunday’s finalists have already played one another in the round-robin section of this year’s Championship when Galway stormed to a comprehensive 11 point victory, but Finn doesn’t believe his side will have it so easy on Sunday.
“There’s going to be very little between the teams and I wouldn’t be reading too much into that meeting.
“They’re a big, physical side. They’re not All-Ireland and League champions for nothing.
“The intensity on Sunday is going to be completely different though. The pressure is on now because it’s winner takes all.”
