McMahon gutted as goal touch deserts bruised Banner

THEY hit two against Waterford and four against Limerick but when Clare’s need was greatest they couldn’t do the one thing which might have derailed Tipperary’s drive for a Munster senior hurling title: score a goal.

The Banner, often panned for their failure to find the net even during the glory days of Ger Loughnane and co, seemed to have hit a rich vein of net-bursting form in this championship. But then as quickly as it came, it was gone.
