Rebel stars to play ties

CORK coach Billy Morgan and his selectors will be sweating over eight players this weekend after County Board chiefs ruled that local championship games must go ahead.
Rebel stars to play ties

The Cork football management had requested that all championship games involving members of the senior inter-county squad be put on hold to ensure an uninterrupted preparation for the All-Ireland decider on September 16.

However, a Board meeting this week has fixed a number of games for this weekend. As a result, team captain Derek Kavanagh, Sean O’Brien, Alan Cronin and David Niblock will be involved with Nemo Rangers in a replay SFC game against Clonakilty; Nicholas Murphy will play with Carrigaline against Fermoy in the IFC, while Michael Cussen will line out with Sarsfields in the SHC against Imokilly. Noel O’Leary is set to play with Cill na Martra in the county IFC against Erin’s Own.
