I’m not leaving Tipp, says Browne

DECLAN BROWNE has dismissed speculation that he could be leaving Tipperary to join Leinster champions Laois.

I’m not leaving Tipp, says Browne

Browne, whose excellence last year won him a second Vodafone Allstar award, made it clear after yesterday’s McGrath Cup game in Clonmel that he had absolutely no intention of declaring for any other county.

Pointing out that he had neither been approached nor asked about a possible move, he said: “I’m not budging.”

While Browne produced seven points for Tipperary in yesterday’s defeat by the John Kennedy-managed Clare side, he didn’t finish the match. He had been suffering from the flu last week and was doubtful up to the time of the throw-in.

“It was very doubtful up the last minute whether he would play,” said new manager Andy Shorthall afterwards.

* The Clare manager watched the game from the grass bank outside the playing pitch. He is serving a suspension imposed by the Kerry County Board arising from an investigation of a juvenile game last year.
