Corofin led 1-5 to 0-2 at the break but the Dubliners took over in the second half and laid siege to the Corofin goal. The incessant pressure eventually told, with Donal O’Riordan leading by example.
O’Riordan scored 2-3, which broke the Corofin challenge, and in a welter of excitement they finished with three points to spare. The irony of their victory is that they were not the Dublin champions and they took the place of St. Michaels (Cork) in the premier grade. In such circumstances it was a great achievement to win the top title.
