Quane retires

After 14 seasons in the top flight, Limerick footballer John Quane has called it a day. The Galtee Gaels player made his decision after Saturday's defeat by Derry in the All-Ireland qualifiers.

Quane started his career in 1991, and was on the Limerick team that lost to Kerry by three points in the Munster final.

A model sportsman, Quane, aged 32 and recently married, became one of the few Limerick players to win a Railway Cup medal in football.
