Right now, it wouldn’t appear to be the biggest story in Irish sport.

Rowing in Ireland, as its national championships indicate, doesn’t attract anything like the kind of attendances or attention that your own county would have commanded over the weekend with the opening round of the national leagues, or the interest the public has is in rugby’s four provinces, let alone the behemoth that is the Premier League.
