Robbie Keane was paid €£80k a week to help keep West Ham up. He doesn't seem to have done that, so his future is in the balance again for next season. I have a suggestion for Robbie: get another deal, even go down a division, you're a good pro. You're good for another couple of seasons in the top flight or Championship and one more International campaign. Then join Shamrock Rovers. You would cement your legendary status, give Rovers and the whole Airtricity League a very welcome shot in the arm. Sure you might have to take a bit of a wage cut but I reckon it would seriously be a great deal for you, the league and most of all the Irish soccer public.
“A bit of a wage cut”? That’s one way of putting it alright. Anyway, I think Robbie has some big decisions to make long before he’d ever contemplate becoming a Hoo, (alongside Duffer and Richard Dunne, of course).
