Bowie poised to deliver
The Dushyantor gelding was the outsider of Noel Meade’s two runners when making his debut at Navan last month.
Going off a totally unconsidered 25-1 shot, Jim Bowie came from off the pace to finish four and a half lengths second behind Kerb Appeal.
It was certainly a promising start and Kerb Appeal showed the form in a decent light when third behind Western Leader and Premier Victory in a Grade 2 at Thurles last Thursday.
Ballywooden King could be the answer to the opening Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle, on the basis of his latest effort.
Stepping up on previous performances, the selection took third spot behind Caduceus and Pay The Bounty at Naas.
In fourth place was False Evidence and he boosted the form when scoring at Leopardstown on Sunday.
Mighty Massini, if putting his best foot forward, can take the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Novice Chase. He was a bit disappointing when a remote fourth behind Jagoes Mills at Fairyhouse, but this does represent a drop in class.
His best effort came at Down Royal back in November, beating subsequent winners Nicanor and Lurgan, and, hopefully, he will now strip in similar shape.
The feature is the Toals’ Bookmakers Ulster Grand National EBF Handicap Chase, which has a particularly wide-open appearance.
