Sixpence can have punters over the moon

THE progressive Themoonandsixpence can land the nap in the FBD Insurance Hurdle at Kilbeggan this evening.

Sixpence can have punters over the moon

Willie Mullins’ six-year-old is clearly going the right way and can build on a decent enough effort in a handicap at Killarney last month.

Ridden on the pace throughout, he was taken to the front over the fourth last by Ruby Walsh. The selection then found plenty up the straight to score comfortably by two and a half lengths.

That contest was over two miles and six and Themoonandsixpence should be even more effective stepping up to three miles.

Green Mile, who has been struggling of late over fences, rates the biggest danger. He’s a useful hurdler, as he showed when second at Haydock in May and when fifth behind Kayf Aramis in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival.

Walsh again teams up with Themoonandsixpence and also has prospects aboard Dream Champion and Huckle Buck Shoe.

Tony Martin’s Dream Champion should be suited by the two and a half miles of the Kieran Kelly Memorial Beginners Chase, having been outspeeded, over three furlongs less, by Emmpat at Limerick.

Prior to that he produced arguably his best ever performance when runner-up behind subsequent Galway Plate hero, Ballyholland, at Down Royal.

Huckle Buck Shoe can make a winning debut over jumps in a modest Moate Maiden Hurdle. He is on the upgrade, making all when beating Miss Mary Mac, successful next time, on this track.

Noel Meade’s Asigh Pearl is the choice in the LARCC Cancer Care Mares Maiden Hurdle. She ran far too freely when a disappointing fourth to Beckett Rock at Navan in February and is better judged on her previous third behind Sorceror at Punchestown.

Meade can complete a double with Lean Times, seven lengths second behind Bold Buccaneer in very testing ground at Sligo, in the Bumper.

At Tipperary tomorrow, where the meeting is subject to a 2pm inspection this afternoon, John Oxx’s Eytarna is fancied to shrug off top weight in the Ballykisteen Hotel Handicap.

She makes a relatively quick reappearance, having failed by three parts of a length to concede Aseasyas 10lbs at Cork on Monday.

Aidan O’Brien is responsible for three of the five possibilities in the Listed Coolmore Hurricane Run Stakes and one of them, Viscount Nelson, has to get the nod.

He battled on strongly when beating promising newcomer, Crying Time, by three parts of a length at Leopardstown and is hard to oppose.

Perfect Polly, formerly trained in England by Jeremy Noseda, made a solid start in this country when runner-up behind Girouette at the Curragh, and is the one to beat in the Listed Abergwaun Stakes.
