After a pretty dire start to the newly-shaped Investec Champions Cup from an Irish perspective, it was as well that Leinster salvaged something substantial from the ashes of a pair of sobering defeats for Connacht and Ulster, coupled with a Thomond Park draw for Munster that felt far more like a defeat.

Not that Leinster needed any additional motivation heading into the Stade Marcel Deflandre for a meeting with their great nemesis of recent times, La Rochelle.
