Renowned Cork bar and eatery The Silver Key has successfully exited a receivership process, with the proprietors expressing relief after '10 incredibly challenging weeks'.

The Silver Key Bar has been trading for decades under the ownership of the Campion family, and is also well known as a popular spot for eating out at its on-site Italian restaurant, Il Primo.

However, it entered receivership in July, continuing to trade through the process. Luke Charleton and Alan Large of EY-Parthenon were appointed as receivers and this week, that receivership process has reached a successful conclusion.

A statement from the receivers said: "Luke Charleton and Alan Large of EY-Parthenon can confirm that they have been discharged as joint receivers of Silver Key Limited, which has now returned to control of its director.

"The Joint Receivers would like to thank the staff, customers and suppliers for their assistance during the period of the receivership."

The pub on Churchyard Lane in Ballinlough is also renowned as a favourite for sports fans, just a short walk from Cork Con rugby club and Cork GAA's second home, Páirc Uí Rinn.

A statement on social media from the Campion family said: "After 10 long and incredibly challenging weeks, we are delighted to announce that The Silver Key Bar & Il Primo Restaurant is back under Campion family control ... we have our keys back, our business is back in our hands, and we are looking forward to welcoming our customers through the doors once again.

"We want to thank our incredible staff, loyal customers, friends, family and everyone who supported us throughout what has been an extremely difficult period."
