  • Innishannon’s Gardens and Galleries event will be held on the last weekend of this month on Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30. It takes place at the parish hall where you can pick up a map and a €10 pass to cover all venues. A variety of gardens and galleries around the village are within walking distance and you can drive or board a free minibus to see all of these around the parish. Also to be enjoyed are a nature walk in Dromkeen Wood, a history walk of the village and a gramophone recital. Gardens and Galleries is all about relaxing, chatting and waiting for your soul to catch up.
  • The Botanic Gardens is hosting a June Themed Tour titled: Scentsational — A Story of Perfume and Pollinators. It's a tour of the most fragrant summer flowers including a brief history of perfume. Of course, plants do not produce their scent just for our pleasure but to entice pollinators and give chemical warning signals. The tour will also explore how plants use scent to exploit animals to their advantage. The tour slot is intended for individual visitors, families and friends. For group bookings, contact the Visitor Centre in Glasnevin, Dublin directly at botanicgardens@opw.ie or 01-8040319.
  • A free permaculture workshop takes place at the Kilcoole Greystones Community Garden at Shoreline Leisure Greystones, Co Wicklow, from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, June 22. Ecologist and Understory founder Alex Konieczka will talk on the fascinating world of permaculture and regenerative farming. See eventbrite.ie for further information.
