Celebrating Christmas at Glasnevin — if you’re tired of the shops and want something a bit special to do on Sunday Dec 14 — then go along to the ‘”Celebrating Christmas” event at the National Botanic Gardens — a treat in itself. Santa and his helpers will be there (emerging from a secret hideaway in the gardens) and there will fun things to do and giant Christmas wreaths on view. Also, for the grown-ups there’s a special Christmas market with music fun and seasonal goodies, treats, presents and more on offer. It’s a ticketed event for Santa as the lovely elves in Glasnevin want to be able to manage the queues so nobody is disappointed — but the event is completely free. The market is open from 10am and Santa comes at 1.30 and will be visiting until 4pm, so contact the Visitor’s Centre on the day. For more information, contact, botanicgardens@opw.ie , or phone 01-8570909 and there will be fun and music for all.
