Our gardening noticeboard
Tickets are available from Ballyseedy Home and Gardens at €7 which will include tea/coffee and a scone with all proceeds going to Greenville House, Carrigtwohill. Greenville House is a Cork Association for Autism service centre for adults. A residential and day service is provided from the centre which consists of a five bedroom house, six two-bedroom cottages and a three-bedroom apartment. There are also two activity rooms, a therapy room, an automated greenhouse and sensory garden. The association provides a holistic model of care, which supports the individual’s needs. The ethos is based upon a ‘home away from home, home for life’ principle and the focus is on developing the individual’s full potential. Service users are taught daily living skills and independent living skills at the association and the service has changed the lives of many individuals and their families. The association also provides respite care from Crobally House in Mogeely, a day service in Bishopstown and their Asperger Syndrome Support Service runs from Penrose Wharf. The association is fundraising for its ‘Building for the Future’ project which involves essential building and repair work at its service centres, for which there is a growing waiting list.
