Gracious city living in Georgian Waterford home

As a well-loved, much-extended Georgian property in a sought-after residential location with large gardens, The Limes on John’s Hill is generating quite a bit of interest at the upper end of the Waterford city property market.

So says Margaret Fogarty of Remax who points out that Georgian properties located within a 15-minute walk of the city centre are very rare, especially ones with almost half an acre of gardens. Guiding at €750,000, this one has five bedrooms and over 4,600 sq ft space. The Buildings of Ireland website records that The Limes was built in 1840 and describes it as a handsome, substantial house of balanced proportions, symmetrical appearance and reserved detailing which retains most of its original form and character. Originally a two-up two-down house, it has been extended by a number of owners including the current ones who bought it in 1997 and carried out major refurbishment works.
