That’s according to Michael Dorgan Auctioneers, which says this detached house and its grounds have been conserved and cherished for decades by its owners and could, with updating and modernisation, once again be turned into a wonderful family home.
On offer for a guide of €350,000, is a three-bed, 1,500 sq ft house with many original features, several outbuildings, and an acre of gardens with a fountain, a pond, and some apple trees.
“Roseville is a landmark property located within a short walk from shops and amenities in the village,3km from Junction 16 on the M8 and a 20-minute drive from the Jack Lynch Tunnel,” says Mr Dorgan.
The location is prominent and so too is a large and highly unusual sign near the road, on which the name Roseville is spelt out with coloured glass bottle bottoms in a wall made up almost entirely of clear glass bottles.
The house was built in the 1950s by the family who still own it. Upgraded with central heating and double-glazed windows in the 1990s, it has retained a very traditional interior with picture rails and floral carpets and will require both redecoration and modernisation.
Ground-floor rooms include a living room, kitchen, dining room, and utility. Upstairs there’s a bathroom and three bedrooms, and to the side there’s a single-storey extension added in the 1980s as a granny flat.

A half-acre site beyond the back courtyard once had 50 hens in outhouses, and the family were self-sufficient in vegetables, picked apples from their own orchard, and also cultivated flowers in a polytunnel. Overgrown and neglected now, this site is being sold in a separate lot with a guide of €50,000 and might have potential for residential use.
The owners are also selling an adjoining site of 3.48 acres which is zoned for community facilities and residential amenities and has an asking price €250,000.
