Kinsale classic with professional look
The interiors of Rincurran Lodge have a timeless, classical look and feel — while the exterior is a mix of Liscannor stone and part-slate hung, in true Kinsale style means the outside side will mellow with age, but not date or weather badly. Yes, indeed, you can tell the hand of professionals has been applied to this large one-off, with great, sweeping Kinsale harbour views.
The two-storey detached quality home, on a site of one-third of an acre, is a bit of a keeper, as much for its build quality and design touches as for its views and location, with inside work and much-swagged windows done by Geraldine Dennehy of Weir Interiors. Husband, Tony Dennehy, was the architect.
The price guide quoted by agents Liam Lynch and Co is €830,000. Back in 2010 they brokered the sale of the nearby Victorian and water-fronting Duncarrig House in Summercove (near the Bullman bar) for €2.35 million, according to the PSRA national price register.
While it doesn’t have the same water-frontage, Rincurran Lodge has elevation and privacy in its stead.
A real signature design feature are the three bay windows, two of them deeply curved and with viewing balconies over them to bedrooms upstairs, opening up to rounded harbour and sea views and vistas.
Rincurran Lodge has two large reception rooms, one with open fireplace, linking to the larger of the bay windows and seating/sun-soaking spaces.
VERDICT: Top drawer.
