Trading up: Join the presidential set

Tommy Barker sings the praises of The Grange which has wonderful musical associations.

A PREVIOUS owner of The Grange — the noted tenor Frank Ryan — sang for no less than two US presidents. Former Irish president Éamon de Valera was a frequent family friend visitor too.

Now, with a US president coming next week to Irish shores — and the country itself virtually singing for its supper — The Grange at Curraghglass near the Cork-Waterford border comes up for sale, after being in Ryan family ownership for 60 years.
