Aghada: converted milk parlour seeks new byre
This long, low-slung c 2,000 sq ft family home was built originally as a milking parlour and set of stone farm outbuildings, says estate agent Lawrence Sweeney of Property Partners Burke Wall in east Cork.
The building, with a sweep of harbour views from its perch above Aghada, was converted a long time ago to residential use, and the current owners are in situ about seven years.
It has been put up for sale on its 0.6 acre site, carrying a guide price of €465,000 and open to offers, and is going to suit a family looking to trade up.
Much of the front is given over to a 50’ long corridor.
Although it is semi-detached, the walls are thick stone and garden boundaries are high hedges, says Mr Sweeney, acting jointly with DNG Russell.
It is within an easy walk of the local tennis and sailing clubs, as well as services and Rosies bar, and has four to five bedrooms, depending on usage.
It also has a big entry porch, 23’ by 8’; kitchen; dining room with beamed ceiling and solid fuel stove inset into an arched fireplaces; sea views and French doors to the back garden. The sitting room also has sea views and exposed wood beam ceiling, with an attractive fireplace and lots of book shelves.
One of the bedrooms is en suite, with a walk-in-wardrobe. Several bedrooms have wood sheeted ceilings and TV points, and bed five has sea views, phone, fireplace.
