Farmhouse which won an award comes with two acres of land

WINNER of an Environmental Award two years ago from Cork County Council, this most traditional of farmhouses is on the market with a price guide on a par with its Clonakilty townhouse counterparts.

Farmhouse which won an award comes with two acres of land

It picked up an award for best example of a traditional house in the county countryside back in 1993 for its owners the Cahalane family, who farm locally and are now selling the residence with its honours plaque on the front wall.

The two-storey home is stone built, but anything at all could be under the lush creepers bearding its front facade. Standing on two acres of fertile land at Templebryan North, about two miles north or inland from Clonakilty, it carries a 220,000 price guide with Ray O’Neill of Sherry FitzGerald O’Neill, acting jointly with its franchise cousins Sherry Fitzgerald O’Donovan in Mallow.

Under swift enough offer, currently standing at 205,000, it has pots of character, original windows, oil heating, four bedrooms and a range of out buildings with conversion potential, say the selling agents.

The extension to the house gives it extra space, and rooms include hall and back hall, living room and dining room, each with brick fireplaces, kitchen with oil cooker, utility, four bedrooms and a main bathroom.

The attractive front gardens are shrub lined, and lawned, and the two acres of pasture will give grass a plenty for a horse, goat or a cow - a ruminant with a view.
